Men's tennis falls to No. 6 Concordia (N.Y.) 9-0

PHILADELPHIA – The Philadelphia University men's tennis team was defeated by No. 6 Concordia (N.Y.) 9-0 in a Central Atlantic Collegiate Conference (CACC) match Friday afternoon on the Abraham Salaman Tennis Courts.

Philadelphia is now 5-13 overall and 0-5 in the CACC. The Clippers improve to 16-3 overall and 6-0 against the conference.

The Rams were forced to forfeit matches at No. 5 and No. 6 singles and No. 3 doubles.

Chris Casamassima and Long Vo were defeated at No. 1 doubles by the second-ranked tandem of Benas Majauskas and Daniele Piludu 8-3. In the No. 2 doubles match, Matthew Germani and Juan Velosa lost to Rafael Ferreira and Ricardo Grey 8-2.

In singles play, Casamassima fought hard against the third-ranked Juuso Ojanen in the No. 1 match before falling 6-4, 6-2.

Ofir Ginat defeated Vo at No. 2, 6-1, 6-0, while Germani lost to Ferreira 6-0, 6-0 at No. 4. Velosa fell to Pulat Babadjanov 6-2, 6-2.

Philadelphia closes out its season with a CACC match at Bloomfield on Saturday, April 19 at 1 p.m.
