PHILADELPHIA – The Philadelphia University women's lacrosse team pushed its winning streak to five matches after defeating visiting Holy Family, 21-15, in a Central Atlantic Collegiate Conference (CACC) match Thursday afternoon on Ravenhill Field.

Philadelphia improves to 5-1 overall, 3-0 against the CACC. The Rams also increased their CACC regular season winning streak to 14.

Holy Family is now 1-4 overall and 1-1 in conference play.

Three days after recording nine points in the win over Dominican (N.Y.), sophomore attack Liz Mower (Harleysville, Pa./Souderton Area) tallied a career-high 10 points (four goals, six assists) and five draw controls against the Tigers.

It was the first time that a Ram recorded 10 points in a match since Taylor Peltzer's 11-point performance (five goals, six assists) against Chestnut Hill in a 20-10 win on April 21, 2011.

Junior attack Allison Brian (Lancaster, Pa./Hempfield) found the back of the net a career-best six times, including the match-winning goal. Grad student midfielder Kristen Blye (Chester Springs, Pa./Downingtown East) also tallied six points with three goals and three assists.

Senior midfielder Libby Nichols (Baltimore, Md./McDonogh) contributed five goals, seven draw controls, seven ground balls, and three caused turnovers.

Junior midfielder Lauren Hartman (Sewell, N.J./Our Lady of Mercy Academy) added two goals, while junior attack Elizabeth Marrosu (Flemington, N.J./Immaculata) scored once.

Holy Family received four goals, one assist, seven ground balls, and five caused turnovers from Brigit LaRose. Brianna Lancetta recorded a hat trick, while Paige Settar and Erin Harmer scored two times.

In goal, Philadelphia junior Kristen Moran (Walden, N.Y./Valley Central) posted seven stops. Holy Family's Grace Deckert made eight saves.

Philadelphia outshot Holy Family 39-24, 22-9 in the first half.

The Rams jumped out to a 2-0 lead in the opening minute thanks to goals from Marrosu and Nichols. Holy Family came back with a free position goal by Settar and a Harmer goal to tie the match at two at the 26:33 mark.

Philadelphia took control of the match with eight straight goals to move in front 10-2 with 14:36 left in the first half. Nichols and Brian scored three times during the surge, while Mower had two goals.

The Tigers managed to close the gap to 12-7 on an unassisted Lancetta tally with 1:28 to go in the half.

After alternating goals six times in the first 10:18 of the second half, Philadelphia rattled off four consecutive goals, capped off by Brian's sixth goal, to take a match-high nine-goal lead (19-10) with 12:06 to play.

Philadelphia returns to Ravenhill Field to take on Nyack in a CACC contest on Saturday, March 22 at noon.
