Women's tennis falls to Chestnut Hill 6-3

PHILADELPHIA – The Philadelphia University women's tennis team was upended by visiting Chestnut Hill 6-3 in a Central Atlantic Collegiate Conference (CACC) match Tuesday afternoon on the Abraham Salaman Tennis Courts.

Philadelphia is now 10-3 overall, 4-3 against the CACC. Chestnut Hill improves 5-2 overall and 5-1 in conference play.

The Rams' No. 3 doubles tandem of Jala Hamada (Giza, Egypt/Dar El-Tarbia, IGCSE) and Anna Slomowitz (Glen Mills, Pa./Garnet Valley) picked up the team's first point with an 8-6 win over Hannah Hills and Hayley Craskey.

Emily Chung (Manhattan Beach, Calif./Mira Costa) and Hamada both recorded their 11th singles win of the season. Chung cruised to a 6-2, 6-0 win over Morgan Oechsle in the No. 3 match, and Hamada knocked off Axe Owens in the No. 4 flight 6-2, 7-5.

Philadelphia returns to action with a non-conference match against Cabrini on Wednesday, Oct. 8 at 3:30 p.m. on the Abraham Salaman Tennis Courts.
