Box Score 1 | Box Score 2

PHILADELPHIA – The Philadelphia University softball team scored four times in the fifth inning of game two on its way to a 4-2 win and earn a doubleheader split with visiting East Stroudsburg Wednesday afternoon. The Warriors took game one 9-3.

The Rams (11-19) went into the bottom of the fifth down 1-0 before rallying to come from behind.

With runners at the corners, junior Meaghan Lewis (Binghamton, N.Y./Chenango Valley) swung at a Laura Suits offering and hit the catcher's glove. The catcher's interference put Lewis on first and brought in sophomore left fielder Emma Haley (Jensen Beach, Fla./Jensen Beach), who singled to start the inning, from third to tie the game.

Two batters later, junior center fielder Samantha Riabko (Haddon Twp., N.J./Haddon Twp.) gave the Rams the lead with a RBI single to left field. The final two runs came in on a fielding error.

Seven different Rams had at least one hit, led by freshman first baseman Emilia Cantrell's (Pipersville, Pa./C.B. East) two. Philadelphia finished with eight hits.

Freshman pitcher Kasia Smith (Waddell, Ariz./Estrella Foothills) struck out six while allowing two runs—one earned—on five hits in the complete-game win.

Laura Suits gave up four runs—one earned—on five hits in three innings.

East Stroudsburg, who scored single runs in the third and seventh, got two hits from Cara McNeil.

Cantrell's second home run of the season gave the Rams an early 2-0 lead in the opening game.

The Warriors responded with three runs in the second and four in the third to grab a 7-2 lead. In the second, Kellie Mignoli recorded a two-run double, while Kasey Mecknes hit a three-run home run in the third.

The two teams traded runs in the fifth and the Warriors' Rebecca Smith hit a solo home run in the seventh.

Sophomore shortstop Stephanie Martin (Hanover, Md./Seton Keough) had two of Philadelphia's four hits.

Mignoli and Mecknes were each 2-for-3 with four RBIs, while McNeil added three hits.

Amanda Carlin earned the win as she allowed three runs—two earned—on three hits in 4.2 innings. Sophomore starter Samantha Abromavage (Lake Hopatcong, N.J./Jefferson Twp.) took the loss.
