Men's tennis ends season with 5-0 loss to Chestnut Hill in CACC Tournament

PHILADELPHIA – The Philadelphia University men's tennis team's 2012-13 season came to an end with a 5-0 loss to host Chestnut Hill in the semifinal round of the Central Atlantic Collegiate Conference (CACC) Tournament Saturday afternoon.

Philadelphia wraps up its season with a 12-12 overall record. Chestnut Hill is now 16-7 and will face Concordia (N.Y.) for the CACC title on Sunday, April 21 at noon.

The Griffins opened the match by taking all three doubles matches. Yoann Pham and Steven Say defeated the Rams' No. 1 tandem of Kyle Burke (Wakefield, R.I./South Kingston) and Chris Casamassima (Franklin Square, N.Y./St. Mary's), 8-4. Kevin Taylor and Anthony Moore won the No. 2 match 8-2 over Ayman Barakat (Kharkiv, Ukraine/Kharkiv Specialized English School #3) and Dylan Bhaerman (Columbus, Ohio/Pickerington North). In the No. 3 match, Matthew Germani (Blackwood, N.J./Highland) and Long Vo (Harleysville, Pa./Souderton Area) were defeated by Michael Humes and Manuel Ceniceros, 8-4.

In singles play, Sammy Arti defeated Josh Greenberg (Miami, Fla./Miami Country Day) in the No. 6 match 6-0, 6-0 and Moore was a 6-1, 6-0 winner against Nail Rachidi (Meknes, Morocco/Emile Anouar) in No. 3 action.
