Men's tennis sweeps Cabrini in non-conference tilt

PHILADELPHIA – The Philadelphia University men's tennis team knocked off visiting Cabrini, 9-0, in a non-conference match Tuesday afternoon on the Abraham Salaman Tennis Courts.

The Rams evened their overall record at 11-11, while the Cavaliers drop to 3-11.

The No. 3 doubles team of Nail Rachidi (Meknes, Morocco/Emile Anouar) and Matthew Germani (Blackwood, N.J./Highland) earned the first point of the day with an 8-0 win over Joe Halberr and Nate Krieger.

Kyle Burke (Wakefield, R.I./South Kingston) and Josh Greenburg (Miami, Fla./Miami Country Day) took the No.1 flight, 8-3, against Ian Monson and Abui Santos. Burke is now three wins away from 100 in his career.

Chris Casamassima (Franklin Square, N.Y./St. Mary's) and Long Vo (Harleysville, Pa./Souderton Area) earned the final doubles point with an 8-5 win over Anthony DiCicco and Sean Neary in the No. 2 match.

In singles action, Ayman Barakat (Kharkiv, Ukraine/Kharkiv Specialized English School #3) took out Monson in the No. 1 flight, 6-2, 6-0. Greenburg got past Neary, 6-4, 6-1, to claim the No. 4 match.

Rachidi, Casamassima, Vo, and Germani were all 6-0, 6-0 winners in their respective matches.

Philadelphia has its final tune-up before the Central Atlantic Collegiate Conference Tournament on Thursday, April 18 with a home non-conference match against USciences at 4 p.m.
