PHILADELPHIA – Freshman attack Liz Mower (Harleysville, Pa./Souderton Area) scored with 10:12 left in regulation to give the Philadelphia University women's lacrosse team a 10-9 victory over visiting Holy Family in a battle for first place in the Central Atlantic Collegiate Conference (CACC) southern division Tuesday afternoon on Ravenhill Field.

Philadelphia improves to 6-3 overall and remains perfect in the CACC with a 4-0 mark. The Rams have won their last four matches. Holy Family is now 4-4 overall and 2-1 in the conference.

Trailing 9-8, junior attack Emily Ray (Bedminster, N.J./Bernards) tied the score with the last of her four goals at the 12:16 mark.

Junior midfielder Libby Nichols (Baltimore, Md./McDonogh) recorded two goals and one assist in the opening 7:23 to help the Rams jump out to an early 4-0 lead.  After trading a pair of goals, Holy Family got goals from Paige Settar, Erin Harmer, and Maria Mattiolli over the final 11:46 to close the gap to 6-5 at the half.

Settar started a back-and-forth second half with two goals to put the Tigers in the lead 7-6.  The Rams got back-to-back goals from Ray and junior midfielder Carli DiCioccio (Bordentown, N.J./Northern Burlington) to regain the lead with 18:03 to go.

Holy Family went back in front at the 16:10 mark on a Stephanie McNesby tally.

DiCioccio finished the match with two goals, while sophomore midfielder Elizabeth Marrosu (Flemington, N.J./Immaculata) scored once.

Mattioli netted three goals for the Tigers.

Freshman goalkeeper Felicia Branagan (Millville, N.J./Millville) stopped eight saves in the win for Philadelphia. The Tigers' Grace Deckert made seven stops. The Rams owned a 23-21 shot edge.

Philadelphia hits the road for a non-conference match at Queens (N.Y.) on Saturday, March 30 at noon.
