Women's soccer blanked by Southern Connecticut, 3-0

NEW HAVEN, Conn. – The Philadelphia University women's soccer team ended its regular season with a 3-0 non-conference loss to host Southern Connecticut Saturday afternoon on Jess Dow Field.

The Rams finish the 2013 regular season with an overall record of 6-9-3. Philadelphia is the sixth seed for the Central Atlantic Collegiate Conference Tournament and will head to Georgian Court for a first round match-up on Tuesday, Nov. 5 at 2 p.m.

Kieran Deblase opened the scoring for the Owls (7-9-2) 1:59 into the match with a shot from the right side of the net.

Suzane Pires added to the lead with a goal from the left side at 67:42.  Maeghan Howard scored Southern Connecticut's final goal at the 88:26 mark off of a Bryana Poulin corner kick.

Sophomore goalkeeper Courtney Shaw (Langhorne, Pa./Villa Joseph Marie) made eight saves for Philadelphia. Camille Fantini stopped one shot for the Owls.

Southern Connecticut owned a 23-1 shot advantage.
