Box Score PHILADELPHIA – The Philadelphia University women's soccer team extended its unbeaten streak to three after a scoreless draw against visiting Holy Family in a Central Atlantic Collegiate Conference (CACC) match Monday afternoon on Ravenhill Field.
Philadelphia is now 4-7-2 overall and 3-4-2 in the CACC. After four matches in their five-match home stand, the Rams are 2-1-1.
Holy Family's overall record is 6-5-3, 5-1-3 against the conference.
The first 45 minutes of the match was dominated by defense as both teams struggled to get scoring chances. Holy Family attempted three shots, while Philadelphia took two.
The Rams turned up the offense in the second half and they fired 10 shots at the Tiger net. Philadelphia got four of those 10 on target, but none dangerous enough to find the back of the net.
In the first overtime session, Holy Family's Kimber Kisselback had the best opportunity to end the match. Just 2:22 in, Kisselback stole the ball from a Ram defender and broke in alone on sophomore keeper Courtney Shaw (Langhorne, Pa./Villa Joseph Marie)—who posted two saves. Kisselback fired her shot across the goalmouth and off of the far post, keeping the match scoreless.
Philadelphia was awarded a corner kick 1:20 into the second overtime and nearly converted the chance with a shot from freshman midfielder Morgan Graus (Rochester, N.Y./Hilton). After Graus' shot was stopped by Sienna Smith, one of her nine saves, a scramble for the rebound ensued that ended with a Ram foul and kept them off the board.
Philadelphia finished the match with a 16-7 shot advantage.
The Rams end their home stand with a non-conference match against Mercy on Wednesday, Oct. 23 at 4 p.m.
