Women's tennis falls to Chestnut Hill, 5-0, in CACC Tournament.

PHILADELPHIA – The Philadelphia University women's tennis team had its fall season end with a 5-0 loss to host Chestnut Hill in the semifinal round of the Central Atlantic Collegiate Conference Championship Tournament Saturday morning.

The fourth-seeded Rams—who were in the tournament for the first time since 2009—wrap up the season with an 11-5 overall record.

Chestnut Hill, the tournament's top seed, is now 13-1 and will face Concordia (N.Y.)—a 5-4 winner over Goldey-Beacom in the other semifinal—on Sunday, Oct. 20 at noon.

The Griffins took a 3-0 lead by sweeping all of the doubles matches.

The No. 2 team of Kelly Dennis and Iman Williams-Mulesa defeated junior Olivia Amato (Hartford, Conn./Cheshire) and freshman Naia Bengoa (Caracas, Venezuela/San Ignacio de Loyola), 8-2. Junior Sylvia Bennicelli (Lansdale, Pa./Lansdale Catholic) and freshman Anna Slomowitz (Glen Mills, Pa./Garnet Valley) were knocked off by Morgan Oechsle and Hayley Craskey, 8-1, in the No. 3 flight.

The top team of freshman Emily Chung (Manhattan Beach, Calif./Mira Costa) and senior Isabela Espinosa (Quito, Ecuador/Colegio Americano de Quito) lost a hard-fought match against Marie Deleval and Charlotte Dawson, 8-6.

In singles play, Dawson defeated Amato 6-1, 6-1 in the No. 4 match and Oechsle was a 6-0, 6-1 winner in No. 5 action against junior Magill Kurts (Burlington, N.J./Burlington City).
