Women's soccer falls to Post, 2-1

WATERBURY, Conn. – Junior forward Michaela Van Antwerp (Andover, Mass./Andover) scored her third goal of the season in the Philadelphia University women's soccer team's 2-1 loss to Central Atlantic Collegiate Conference (CACC) opponent Post Sunday afternoon.

After the Eagles (5-6-0, 3-4-0 CACC) took a 1-0 lead on a third-minute goal from Alison Mrowinski, Van Antwerp tied the match with an unassisted goal in the 36th minute. Van Antwerp tied senior forward Janine Cascio (Kings Park, N.Y./Kings Park) for the team lead in goals.

Post regained the one-goal advantage in the 52nd minute when Stephanie Curina found Tessa Dunster on a long pass off of a set piece.

The Rams (2-6-1, 2-4-1 CACC) turned up the pressure as they took nine shots over the final 38:34, but couldn't get one passed Eagle keeper Eryka Baez.

Sophomore goalkeeper Courtney Shaw (Langhorne, Pa./Villa Joseph Marie) made seven saves in the loss, her second-highest save total this season. Baez finished with six stops.

The Rams outshot the Eagles, 16-15, and had a 4-2 corner kick advantage.

Philadelphia starts a six-match homestand on Tuesday, Oct. 15 against Bridgeport at 3:30 p.m.
