Rams fall to Griffins, 8-1

PHILADELPHIA – The Philadelphia University men's tennis team was defeated by Chestnut Hill, 8-1, as the teams completed their non-conference match on Thursday afternoon.

Chestnut Hill (2-1) took two of the doubles matches that were played on Wednesday. Long Vo and Nail Rachidi earned a point for the Rams (1-2) with an 8-6 win over Michael Humes and Sammy Atri.

On Thursday, the Griffins took all six singles matches. Rachidi put up a strong battle in the No. 4 flight, but eventually lost to Steven Say, 7-5, 7-5. In the No. 1 match, Ayman Barakat dropped set one to Humes in a tiebreak 7-6 (7-2). Humes won the second set 6-2.

Philadelphia returns to action with a non-conference match against Division I La Salle on Sunday, Sept. 30 at noon.
