Box Score PHILADELPHIA – Forward Jonathan Fredericks (so. Newark, Del. / Charter School of Wilmington) scored the first two goals of his college career to help the Philadelphia University men's soccer team defeat Molloy, 3-0, in a non-conference match Tuesday afternoon on Ravenhill Field.
Fredericks entered the contest in the 69th minute with Philadelphia already leading 1-0. He provided an immediate spark, scoring his first goal on a breakaway in the 72nd minute to double the margin to 2-0. Forward Victor Chagonda sent a ball forward and Fredericks did the rest as he dribbled around the keeper and tapped the ball into a wide open net.
He struck again in the 83rd minute as he once again hit a wide-open net after receiving a centering pass from forward Patrick Groh on the right wing.
Philadelphia, who entered the match ranked eighth in today's National Soccer Coaches Association of America/Continental Tires Division II East Region Poll, improves to 3-0-2 overall. Molloy goes to 2-3-0.
Forward Jakob Passernig (so. Austin, Texas / Dripping Springs) provided the Rams' first goal in the 11th minute by deflecting a low ball kicked into the box on a set piece by midfielder Sean Crossland. The goal was Passernig's second of the season.
Neil Kwiatkowski (so. Schenectady, N.Y. / Duanesburg) was solid in goal making four saves to record his third consecutive shutout. Kwiatkowski received some help from defender Travis Lobb in the 29th minute when Lobb, who was standing in front of the goal line, knocked down a Dan Brown shot with his chest to prevent a potential goal.
Molloy's Michael Hunter made seven stops. Philadelphia outshot Molloy, 18-11.
Philadelphia continues its home-stand with a Central Atlantic Collegiate Conference match against visiting Post on Saturday, Sept. 15 at 2:30 p.m.
