Rams return to CACC final after defeating Chestnut Hill, 5-2

BRONXVILLE, N.Y. – The Central Atlantic Collegiate Conference (CACC)  will have its fourth conference tournament final on Sunday, and for the fourth time it will feature Philadelphia University after the Rams defeated Chestnut Hill, 5-2, in a CACC Tournament semifinal Saturday afternoon at Concordia (N.Y.).

The Rams (10-11), the tournament three seed, will take on host and top-seed Concordia in Sunday's final at noon. This is the third year in a row that the Rams and Clippers will battle for the conference title and a spot in the NCAA Tournament.

Against the second-seeded Griffins (11-11), Philadelphia got off to a strong start with wins in two of the three doubles matches. In the No. 1 match, Manoli Sgouros and Adrian Torroella-Cruz defeated Mike Humes and Yoann Pham, 8-1. The second point came from the No. 2 tandem of Ryan Christopher and Kyle Burke who were 8-2 winners against Mike Pecoraro and Julius Twyman.

Burke came through with the third point after a tight 6-4, 7-6 (6-4) win against Manuel Ceniceros in the No. 3 singles flight. Torroella-Cruz needed three sets in the No. 1 match to knock off Humes, 2-6, 6-2, 6-2. Christopher secured the match with a 6-2, 6-4 win over Twyman at No. 4.
