Rams push winning streak to three with 6-3 victory over visiting Devils

PHILADELPHIA, Pa. – The Philadelphia University men's tennis increased its winning streak to three after picking up a 6-3 victory over the visiting University of the Sciences, 6-3, in a Central Atlantic Collegiate Conference (CACC) match Thursday afternoon.

The Rams (5-8, 2-0 CACC) picked up three tough points by taking a trio of tight double matches. Ryan Christopher and Kyle Burke earned the first point after defeating Julian Katzev and Steven Galerkin, 8-5, in the No. 2 match. The No. 3 flight had Nail Rachidi partner up with Eric Guerrero to earn an 8-6 win over Bill Fine and William Metz. Adrian Torroella-Cruz and Manoli Sgouros needed a tiebreak to claim victory in the No. 1 match, 9-8 (10-8) over David Kazakevich and Alvaro Vargas.

Christopher picked up the team's fourth point by defeating Katzev in the No. 4 singles match, 6-2, 6-2. Rachidi secured the victory with a 6-3, 6-4 victory over Metz in the No. 6 flight.

Guerrero was also a winner in singles action as he defeated Cameron Carlock 6-4, 6-1.

Philadelphia will go for its fourth straight win when it hosts Bloomfield in a CACC match Saturday, March 31 at noon.
