Men's tennis gets past visiting West Chester, 7-2

PHILADELPHIA, Pa. – The Philadelphia University men's tennis team picked up its second straight victory after defeating visiting West Chester, 7-2, on Thursday afternoon.

 

Philadelphia (4-8) took the lead in doubles round with two victories. The No. 1 team of Manoli Sgourous and Kyle Burke defeated Cody Leimback and Andrew Peterson, 8-3. Ryan Christopher and Adrian Torroella-Cruz were 8-6 winner in the No. 2 flight against Jimmy Aridas and Connor Dunn.

 

Torroella-Cruz, Sgourous and Burke had little trouble in picking up straight set wins. Christopher had a dogfight with David Goldenberg to win the first set of the No. 4 flight, 7-5. He settled down and took the second set and the match 6-0.

 

Nail Rachidi earned a hard fought win the in No. 5 match against Luan Kitchen, 6-4, 7-6 (9-7).

 

The Rams host Alvernia in its next match on Saturday, March 24 at 1 p.m.
