Lady Rams edged out by Goldey-Beacom in overtime, 71-69

WILMINGTON, Del. – The Philadelphia University women's basketball team had its four-game winning streak snapped after a 71-69 overtime setback to Goldey-Beacom in a Central Atlantic Collegiate Conference (CACC) game Thursday night in the Jones Center. This is the second time the Lady Rams and Lightning have gone to overtime this season.

Briana Richmond-Peters (five points) netted the eventual game-winning basket with 27 seconds remaining to snap a 69-all tie. The basket capped a wild five minutes in which the lead changed hands three times and had the score tied twice.

Philadelphia (18-6, 12-3 CACC) took a 68-65 lead when guard Najah Jacobs (team-high 17 points) and forward Kristen Blye (five points) connected on consecutive baskets.

The Lightning (16-6, 11-4 CACC) countered with back-to-back baskets from Richmond-Peters and Devonne Richardson (13 points, nine rebounds, five steals) to regain a 69-68 advantage with 2:30 left.

Lady Ram guard Taylor Peltzer (13 points) drained a free throw with 46 seconds on the clock to knot the score at 69.

Center Christine Wooding scored 15 points and grabbed five rebounds for the Lady Rams. Guard Stephanie Agger contributed 10 rebounds, eight points and six assists.

Goldey-Beacom's Irene Hudson recorded a pair of game-highs with 19 points and 11 rebounds.

The Lady Rams outshot the Lightning from the floor—39.3 percent (24-of-61) to 33.7 percent (29-of-86)—and at the free throw line—70.8 percent (17-of-24) to 52.4 percent (11-of-21). Goldey-Beacom outrebounded Philadelphia, 57-45, which including a 30-13 advantage on the offensive glass.

Philadelphia held a 62-60 lead until Melanie Johnson (seven points) hit a 14-foot runner in the lane with 13 seconds remaining to send the game to overtime.

Philadelphia heads north to take on Dominican (N.Y.) in a CACC game Saturday, Feb. 11 at 1:30 p.m.
