Men's tennis falls to District of Columbia in spring opener, 9-0

WASHINGTON, DC – The Philadelphia University men's tennis team began its spring slate with a 9-0 defeat to host District of Columbia Saturday afternoon at the Southeast Tennis and Learning Center in a non-conference match.

All three doubles matches were tight. Ryan Christopher and Nail Rachidi pushed Miguel Uzcategui and Carlos Quiroga to the limit in No. 3 doubles. Uzcategui and Quiroga picked up a 9-7 victory. Eric Guerrero and Adrian Torroella-Cruz also played well before falling to Tomas Gajdusek and Bruno Reich in the No. 2 flight, 8-6.

After a hard-fought doubles match, Christopher and Uzcategui played a tough match at No. 5 singles with Uzcategui earning the 6-4, 7-5 win.

Philadelphia (1-4) will take on Adelphi Sunday, Feb. 26 in the Arthur Ashe Tennis Center at 4:30 p.m.
