Box Score NEW CASTLE, Del. – Christine Wooding continued her impressive senior season by scoring a career-high 33 points to lead the Philadelphia University women's basketball team to a 74-43 victory over Wilmington (Del.) University in a Central Atlantic Collegiate Conference (CACC) game Tuesday night in the Pratt Center.
Wooding, who also corralled 17 rebounds, shot 9-of-15 from the field and 15-of-20 at the free throw line. She is now 14th all-time in Philadelphia University history with 656 career rebounds and 21st with 1,139 career points.
Forward Kristen Blye scored 11 points and had four rebounds for the Lady Rams (16-5, 10-2 CACC). Guard Najah Jacobs came off-the-bench to score 10 points.
Wilmington (1-15, 0-11 CACC) got 12 points each from Erin Moore and Lauren Brown.
The Lady Rams used a 12-3 run, capped off by a Wooding lay-up, to turn an early deficit into a 14-10 lead with 10:57 left in the first half. Philadelphia outscored Wilmington 9-1, including four points from Jacobs and three from Wooding, over the final 6:55 to take a 27-20 halftime lead.
The run spilled over into the second half as the Lady Rams outscored the Wildcats 8-2 in the first three minutes to extend their lead to 35-22. The lead never dipped below double-digits.
A Courtney Overholt free throw with 2:07 left gave Philadelphia a game-high 74-40 lead.
The Lady Rams shot 45.0 percent (27-of-60) for the game, while the Wildcats hit 29.1 percent (16-of-55) of their attempts. Philadelphia owned a 44-35 rebounding advantage.
Philadelphia returns home to take on Concordia (N.Y.) in a CACC contest on Saturday, Feb. 4 at 2 p.m.
