Lady Rams back on-track after coming from behind to defeat Caldwell, 83-80

CALDWELL, N.J. – Five Lady Rams reached double-figures in points as the Philadelphia University women's basketball team rallied past Caldwell, 83-80, in a Central Atlantic Collegiate Conference (CACC) game Saturday afternoon in the Newman Center.

 

Center Christine Wooding led the Lady Rams (15-5, 10-2 CACC) with 27 points, on 12-of-15 shooting, and eight rebounds. Guard Najah Jacobs came off-the-bench and had a perfect shooting day to finish with a career-high 20 points. Jacobs was 6-of-6 from the field and 8-of-8 at the free throw line.

 

Guard Taylor Peltzer netted 13 points, while forward Kristen Blye added 12 points. Guard Stephanie Agger contributed 11 points and eight assists.

 

The Cougars' (12-8, 9-4 CACC) Jeanette Anderson poured in 31 points and 13 rebounds, both game-highs. Kaitlyn Lambert and Torey Jones had 16 and 12 points, respectively. Jessica Coscia dished out 10 assists.

 

Both teams shot the ball over very well. The Lady Rams hit 56.4 percent (31-of-55) of their attempts, while the Cougars shot 53.0 percent (35-of-66). Caldwell owned a 33-24 rebounding advantage.

 

Caldwell opened the second half with six straight points to take a 55-44 lead with 18:20 left. A Wooding three-pointer pulled the Lady Rams within 61-57 at the 12:31 mark.

 

The Cougars regained a nine-point lead (74-65) when Jones drained a triple with just over seven minutes left.

 

Jacobs started the Lady Rams' comeback with a lay-up at the 5:32 mark to close the close to 76-71. The basket triggered a 10-2 run, which Jacobs ended with another lay-up, which put Philadelphia in front 81-78 with 64 seconds on the clock.

 

Guard Megan Finn sealed the win by blocking a Cougar three-point attempt as time expired. It was her second career block.

 

Philadelphia travels to Wilmington (Del.) for a CACC contest Tuesday, Jan. 31 at 6 p.m. The Lady Rams won the first meeting, 87-49 in Philadelphia on Dec. 3.
