Box Score PHILADELPHIA, Pa. – Christine Wooding scored a team-high 19 points as the Philadelphia University women's basketball team won its sixth game in a row after defeating Central Atlantic Collegiate Conference (CACC) opponent Bloomfield College, 67-56, Saturday afternoon in the Gallagher Center.
Wooding, who was honored before the game for scoring her 1,000th career point on Jan. 10 against Georgian Court, shot 8-of-12 from the field and also grabbed six rebounds and blocked four shots.
Forward Kristen Blye and guard Taylor Peltzer both scored 14 points for Philadelphia (14-4, 8-1 CACC). Blye added eight rebounds. Guard Stephanie Agger contributed nine points, six assists and five rebounds. Agger is now 16 points away from reaching 1,000 in her career.
The Deacons (8-9, 6-4 CACC) got a game-high 20 points from Emily Hall. Shaniqua Bacote notched a game-best 10 rebounds.
Philadelphia shot 50.0 percent (23-of-46) for the game, while holding Bloomfield to 32.8 percent (22-of-67). The Lady Rams held a slight rebounding edge, 38-36.
The Lady Rams started the game-changing run with 10:26 left when guard Najah Jacobs converted a lay-up to make the score 45-42. Later in the spurt, Philadelphia rattled off nine straight points, four from Agger, to push the gap to 56-44. Agger capped the run by making two free throws with 1:21 remaining to give the Lady Rams a game-high 18-point lead at 67-49.
The Lady Rams went on a 12-0 run midway through the first half to take their first double-digit lead of the game (26-12). Wooding led the charge with six points. Philadelphia led at the break, 35-24.
Philadelphia returns to action Thursday, Jan. 26 against Goldey-Beacom in a CACC game in the Gallagher Center at 6 p.m.
