New Castle, DE- The Philadelphia University softball team (7-9, 1-5 CACC) split at Wilmington University (13-11, 5-1 CACC) on Tuesday afternoon at Asbury Field.
PhilaU fell 3-2 in game one but picked up a victory in the second game 5-3 on a three-inning seventh.
In the 5-3 win, junior catcher Katie Renner knocked a two-RBI single to left field, and was followed up by junior infielder Danielle Parisi's RBI double to secure the win. Winning junior pitcher Ali Schmidt got eight strikeouts in the win.
In the first game, freshman hurler Ally Vrcek took the loss in six innings, securing five strikeouts. In that contest, senior outfielder Jen Richard scored in the first on a fielding error and the other PhilaU run came in the fifth on a double from freshman outfielder Devin Griglik.
The Rams return to the diamond on Thursday (3/31) at home vs. Chestnut Hill College at 2:30 p.m.
