Philadelphia, PA- The Philadelphia University Rams (1-2, 1-0 CACC) fought back but fell 12-10 in an overtime contest vs. the Kutztown University Bears (3-1, 0-1 PSAC) on Thursday afternoon at Ravenhill Field.
PhilaU was led by freshman attack Emily Ray and junior attack Taylor Peltzer, who each had two goals and an assist. PhilaU junior middie Caribeth Shappell added two scores of her own. KU was led by three goals from Kelsey Hogan.
In the first half tied at 2-2, KU jumped out to a 5-2 lead to close out the first 30 minutes. After the break, PhilaU went on an 8-2 to run take a 10-7 edge at 11:22 remaining. The Bears would score the final five goals of the contest, three in regulation to tie it and then two in the overtime periods to take the 12-10 win.
PhilaU freshman goalie Cory Lombardo had 14 saves in the loss, while KU's JoAnn McLaughlin made 14 stops for the Bears.
The Rams now travel to Molloy College on Sunday (3/20) for a 1 p.m. non-conference tussle.
