Lady Rams gets defensive in an 81-48 win against Nyack

PHILADELPHIA, Pa. – The Lady Rams forced a season-high 35 turnovers and held the visiting Warriors to under 30 percent shooting as the Philadelphia University women's basketball team earned an 81-48 win over Nyack in a Central Atlantic Collegiate Conference (CACC) game Saturday afternoon at the Gallagher Center.

The Lady Rams (7-2, 3-0 CACC) scored 29 of the game's 38 points over a 12:23 span to grab a 29-9 lead. Center Christine Wooding and guard Stephanie Agger both led the charge with seven points each. Wooding ended up with a career-high 25 points and eight rebounds, while Agger dropped in 13. The Lady Rams defense forced 15 turnovers to help them get away from the Warriors (0-7, 0-3 CACC).

The Warriors rallied to cut the gap to 34-25 with 3:09 left in the half behind a 12-2 run. Brittany Mitchell scored five of her six points during the burst.

Philadelphia recovered to close out the half by netting 10 of the half's final 11 points and take a 44-26 lead to intermission. The Lady Rams' advantage never dipped below 20 over the game's final 15 minutes.

Forward Taylor Peltzer had 13 points and a career-high six assists for Philadelphia. Forward Kristen Blye added 12 points and seven rebounds.

Nyack's leading scorer was Ashley Tallman with eight points.

Philadelphia tied the CACC record for most free throw attempts in a game with 55. The Lady Rams hit 36 of those attempts. Nyack was 11-of-15 from the line. From the field Philadelphia shot 42.0 percent (21-of-50) and held Nyack to 28.3 percent (17-of-60). Nyack won the rebounding battle, 45-41.

Philadelphia returns to action with a road CACC contest against USciences Saturday, Dec. 17 at 1 p.m.
