Lakewood, NJ- The #4 seeded Philadelphia
University women's lacrosse team (7-11, 6-6 CACC) saw their
season come to an end in a 17-9 Central Atlantic Collegiate
Conference (CACC) Tournament semifinal loss to the #1 seeded
Georgian Court University Lions (16-2, 12-0 CACC) on Saturday
afternoon.
The Lady Rams were led by sophomore attacker Taylor
Peltzer's (Holland, PA/ Archbishop Wood) three
goals. Senior midfielder Kathleen Maurer
(Rochester, NY/ Our Lady of Mercy) added a goal and two assists in
the game.
The Lions, who had already beaten PhilaU twice by large margins
in the regular season- sprung out to a 4-1 lead in the first half
after PhilaU sophomore attacker Taylor Boyle
(Wilton, CT/Wilton) notched an early goal just 40 seconds into
play. Sophomore midfielder Kalin Hodel (West
Chester, OH/ Lakota West) would drop in two of her own goals in the
first stanza, but PhilaU trailed 9-4 at the break.
GCU ran off on a 5-0 spree to open the second half, leading 14-4
at 16:47. The Lady Rams would play catch up for the remainder
of the match, eventually falling 17-9.
PhilaU senior goalie Kat Sullivan (Mt. Laurel,
NJ/ Lenape) made 11 saves in her final game with the Lady Rams,
while GCU keeper s Christine Latteri and Jennifer Molzon combined
for 13 saves and will advance to the CACC Championship on Sunday
(5/2) vs. Holy Family University (a 12-9 winner over Wilmington
University).
