Kutztown, PA- A goal with 15 seconds remaining
would not be enough as the Philadelphia University Lady Rams (7-7,
6-3 CACC) let an early lead slip away in a 12-11 non-conference
loss to the Kutztown University Golden Bears (3-10) on Monday
afternoon at Keystone Field.
PhilaU sophomore attacker Taylor Peltzer
(Holland, PA/ Archbishop Wood) put in the Lady Ram's final
shot with 15 seconds remaining, but it was too little, too
late. Peltzer capped the day with a team-high four goals.
KU's Amanda Bushong scored the game-winner at 1:47 in the
second half.
Up 7-5 at the half, PhilaU got a quick goal from senior
midfielder Lauren Woodie (Monmouth Beach, NJ/
Shore) at 24:54 and sophomore attacker Jessica
Burton (Falmouth, MA/ Falmouth) added another to give the
Lady Rams a 9-6 advantage at 19:17 in the second period. Yet-
KU mounted a 6-2 run to finish out the contest to pull ahead and
hang on for the 12-11 come-from-behind win.
PhilaU senior goalie Kat Sullivan (Mt. Laurel,
NJ/ Lenape) made six saves, while KU keeper Karly Waltman had 15
stops for the Bears.
The Lady Rams face Chestnut Hill College next on Thursday (4/22)
at 7:30 p.m., to be played at Plymouth Whitemarsh High
School.
