Philadelphia, PA- The Philadelphia University
men's tennis team (10-4, 4-1 CACC) recorded an 8-1 Central
Atlantic Collegiate Conference (CACC) victory over the University
of the Sciences-Philadelphia (USP) on Thursday afternoon at the
Abraham J. Salaman'58 Courts.
The Rams swept doubles, as freshman Kyle Burke
(Wakefield, RI/ S. Kingston) and sophomore Manoli
Sgouros (Forest Hills, NY/ Holy Cross) teamed up at #1 to
defeat Ricardo Martins/Chris Lukose 8-3.
PhilaU's lone loss came at #1 singles as sophomore
Adrian Torroella-Cruz (Gainesville, FL/
Gainesville) fell in a tough 6-4, 7-6 match to Martins.
The rest of the PhilaU singles players pulled out wins,
including #5 singles junior Seppi Hutter
(Bellevue, WA/ Bellevue) in a 6-0, 6-1 win over Jason Chen and #6
singles junior Tom McAvoy (Phoenixville, PA/
Phoenixville) in a 7-6, 6-1 win over Ken Connelly.
The Rams return to action on Tuesday (4/6) at Caldwell at 4:00
p.m.
