#3 Women's Soccer Ends 2010 in 4-0 CACC Quarterfinal Loss

Philadelphia, PA- The #3 seeded Philadelphia University women's soccer season came to an abrupt end on Monday afternoon in a 4-0 loss to #6 seeded Georgian Court University (9-8-2, 6-5-1 CACC) at Ravenhill Field in a Central Atlantic Collegiate Conference (CACC) quarterfinal match.  The Rams end their 2010 campaign with a 9-7-3 overall record, 9-3 in the CACC.

PhilaU went into today's contest with a 1-0 record against the Lions this season, beating them 3-0 on October 12th at GCU.

In today's quarterfinal match, the Rams carried an 18-7 shot advantage throughout the match despite not scoring a goal.  Senior midfielder Sara Redka led the team with seven shots. 


GCU scored two goals in each half.  GCU's game-winner came at 21:27 by Kelly Lyons and then Skyler Eiceman followed up just five minutes later with another goal to lead 2-0 at the half.  The other two scores came in the second half- a Nicole Petrosino goal at 63:21 and one from Amanda Szewczyk at 82:29 to make the final GCU 4, PhilaU 0.

In goal, PhilaU sophomore keeper Kelli Kowalewski took the loss with two saves in 65 minutes, and junior goalie Rebecca Della Peruta made one stop in 24 minutes of work.  GCU's Shea Sullivan had 13 saves in the win.
