Philadelphia, PA- Sophomore forward
Christine Wooding (Northfield, NJ/ Mainland)
filled the stat sheet with 18 points, 10 boards and two blocks as
the Philadelphia University Lady Rams (9-9, 7-3 CACC) knocked off
the Concordia College Clippers (1-18, 1-10 CACC) 85-43 at the
Gallagher Athletic Center on Saturday afternoon.
PhilaU's stats gave Coach Tom Shirley something to smile about,
going nearly 50% from field goal range and 89% from the charity
stripe.
Lady Ram senior center Jessica Romano (Horsham,
PA/ Hatboro-Horsham) led all scorers with 22 points and seven
rebounds, while Dana Rommel led the Clippers with 11 points.
A 23-23 tie at 5:47 in the first half would be the final time CC
would be considered a danger, as the Lady Rams ended the stanza on
a 15-2 run to lead 38-25 at the break.
PhilaU junior forward Ashley Gaskins
(Harrisburg, PA/ Central Dauphin) exploded in the second half,
racking up a game-high 11 rebounds on the night and 12 points-
along with three steals.
The Lady Rams continued to roll as senior forward Kate
Brennan (Stratford, NJ/ Sterling) hit a bucket at 14:02 to
make it 53-30, and the home team never looked back. Brennan
finished the day with 14 points and four assists.
Also providing PhilaU with a boost was senior guard Nina
Brascetta (Philadelphia, PA/ Archbishop Ryan) who dished
out eight assists to go with nine points.
PhilaU takes the court next on Thursday (2/4) as they host
Georgian Court University at 6:00 p.m.in a single game at the
Gallagher Athletic Center.
