Philadelphia, PA- The Philadelphia University
Lady Rams (5-1-3, 3-0 CACC) battled the West Chester University
Golden Rams (6-1-1, 5-1 PSAC) to a 0-0 tie in double overtime
Wednesday evening in women's soccer at Ravenhill Field. WCU, the
No. 16 ranked team in the country, bombarded PhilaU with 27 shots
to the Lady Ram's eight.
In the first half, WCU kept pressure on the PhilaU defense,
playing a majority of the game in the PhilaU end.
As play moved into the second period, the PhilaU defense blunted
the WCU attack but the Golden Rams still managed seven shots.
In both overtime periods, PhilaU freshman keeper Kelli
Kowalewski (Shamong, NJ/ Seneca) continued to keep WCU
from leaving Ravenhill Field with a victory, making perhaps her
finest save in the last seconds of the game on a breakaway.
Junior Sara Redka (Williamsport, PA/
Williamsport Area) and freshman Melissa Copeland
(Islip Terrace/East Islip) led the Lady Rams with two shots
each.
The Lady Rams fired eight shots at WCU goalkeeper Lyndsie
Bernardini (five saves) in 110 minutes of play, while Kowalewski
had 19 saves for PhilaU.
PhilaU returns to action on Saturday (9/26) when they travel to
take on Post University at 1:00 p.m.
