Philadelphia, PA- The Philadelphia University
women's lacrosse team (7-7, 7-2 CACC) fell 22-4 in a non-conference
match-up to the #1 nationally-ranked Adelphi University Panthers
(12-0) on Saturday afternoon. Junior midfielder
Kathleen Maurer (Rochester, NY/ Our Lady of Mercy)
led PhilaU with two goals. The Lady Rams recognized their
three seniors in a brief Senior Day ceremony before the game-
Amanda Harding, Sarah Davis and
Kathryn Sheehan.
PhilaU was out-matched in the first half, getting outshot 33-7
as AU's Erica Devito scored all of her game-high five goals ( and
eight points) in that stanza. The Panthers took a 9-0 lead
before the Lady Rams got a goal from sophomore midfielder
Michelle O'Hanlon (Springfield, PA/ Springfield)
to break their silence.
PhilaU trailed 17-1 at the half.
The second half was a different story for the Lady Rams, as they
held the Panthers to just 13 shots and notched three more goals-
two from Maurer and one from senior attack Sarah Davis
(Dublin, OH/ Dublin Scioto).
PhilaU junior goalie Katherine Sullivan (Mt.
Laurel, NJ/ Lenape) made 16 saves for the Lady Rams, while AU
keeper Caitlin Fitzpatrick had six saves.
The Lady Rams return to action on Monday (4/20) as they host
Kutztown University at 4:30 p.m.
