Taylor Peltzer (Holland, PA/ Archbishop Wood)
racked up four goals to lead all scorers in a 18-7 win for
Philadelphia University (7-6, 7-2 CACC) over the Holy Family
University Tigers (0-13, 0-9 CACC) on Thursday evening.
PhilaU outshot the Tigers 50-22 for the game and also held the
advantage on ground balls (27-20).
The Lady Rams charged out to a 5-0 lead at 21:39 in the first
period, two of them scored by Peltzer. HFU would get on the
board at 18:14 with a goal by Jennifer James and got as close at
7-3 five minutes later.
After that it was all PhilaU as Peltzer scored her final two
goals in the first stanza, spearheading a 3-0 run to give the Lady
Rams a 12-3 lead at halftime.
Junior midfielder Kathleen Maurer (Rochester,
NY/ Our Lady of Mercy) notched two of her three goals in the second
half as PhilaU pulled further ahead. The final score read
PhilaU 18, HFU 7.
Lady Ram junior goalie Katherine Sullivan (Mt.
Laurel, NJ/ Lenape) had nine saves while HFU's Melissa Jenkins made
21 stops for the Tigers.
The maroon and gray return to action on Saturday, April
18th when they host #1 nationally-ranked Adelphi
University at 1:00 p.m. at Ravenhill Field.
