Philadelphia, PA- The
Philadelphia University women's lacrosse team (3-3, 3-0 CACC) got
their third-straight conference win as they slammed the Wilmington
University Wildcats (2-3, 0-2 CACC) 17-7 on Saturday
afternoon. The win was the lacrosse program's first-ever CACC
home win, as this is the first year the league is sponsoring
women's lacrosse.
The Wildcats would remain scoreless for the first 22 minutes of
the game, as PhilaU outshot WU 38-27 for the contest.
Sophomore midfielder Michelle O'Hanlon
(Springfield, PA/ Springfield) led all scorers with seven goals,
five in the first half alone as the Lady Rams surged out to a 12-2
lead at the half.
Also scoring in double digits were junior attacker
Lauren Woodie (Monmouth, NJ/ Shore Regional),
senior attack Sarah Davis (Dublin, OH/ Dublin
Scioto) and freshman attacker Kelsey Gavigan (Cape
May, NJ/ L. Cape May)- who all added two goals apiece.
Rounding out the scoring for the Lady Rams were sophomore
midfielder Jennifer Sica (Long Valley, NJ/ W.
Morris Central), freshmen Taylor Peltzer (Holland,
PA/ Archbishop Wood), midfielder Caribeth Shappell
(Reinholds, PA/ Cocalico) and midfielder Kalin
Hodel (W. Chester, OH/ Lakota West).
The Lady Rams return to action tomorrow, March 22nd
vs. Georgian Court University at 12:00 p.m. at Ravenhill
Field.
