Lady Rams Slide in 58-54 Loss to St. Mike's

Box Score

Philadelphia, PA- The Philadelphia University Lady Rams (4-4, 3-0 CACC) lost in a not-so-pretty non-conference battle 58-54 to the St. Michael's College Purple Knights (3-5, 1-5 NE 10) on Sunday afternoon at the Gallagher Athletic Center.

SMC's Alexis Keller led all scorers with 16 points and five boards, while PhilaU was led by senior guard Nina Brascetta (Philadelphia, PA/ Archbishop Ryan) and freshman forward Kristen Blye (Chester Springs, PA/ Downingtown East) with 10 points each.

The Lady Rams outshot the Purple Knights 37%-35% but shot just 58% from the charity stripe to SMC's 67%.  There were 39 turnovers between the two squads.

PhilaU's leading scorer senior center Jess Romano (Horsham, PA/ Hatboro-Horsham) was held to just eight points and six rebounds.

PhilaU led for the majority of the game until the 8:14 mark in the second half as a jumper by SMC's Kayla Carnell gave the visitors their first lead (45-43).  From there the Lady Rams briefly regained the lead on a freshman Taylor Peltzer (Holland, PA/ Archbishop Wood) jumper, but SMC would take over after a 52 all tie and pull it out finishing on a 6-2 run.  Peltzer added six points and five boards on the night.

The Lady Rams return to action on Tuesday (12/22) vs. Bloomsburg College at home at 3:00 p.m.
