Philadelphia, PA- The Philadelphia University
women's tennis team (9-6, 5-3 CACC) got a 9-0 win in their final
conference match of the season at Chestnut Hill College (2-12, 2-6
CACC) on Thursday afternoon. The Lady Rams have clinched
the# 4 seed heading into Central Atlantic Collegiate Conference
(CACC) playoffs.
Junior #1 singles player Daniela Rodriguez
(Quito, Ecuador/ Colegio Menor) won handily 6-1, 6-2 over CHC's
Erin Andersen, but had a tougher time at #1 doubles with sophomore
Brittany Villa (Logan, NJ/ Kingsway)- coming out
on top in a 9-8 (7-3) victory.
The Lady Rams did not give up a set throughout the entire match,
as sophomore Christina Brzozowski (Wallingford,
CT/ Sacred Heart Academy) won at #2 singles 6-1, 6-2 and Villa took
#3 singles 6-0, 6-3.
The Lady Rams will play their final regular season match of 2009
on Saturday (10/10) at home vs. Adelphi University at 12:00 p.m.,
and then head to Concordia for the CACC Semi-finals on Tuesday
(10/13) at 3:00 p.m.
