Nyack, NY- Junior center Jess
Romano (Horsham, PA/ Hatboro-Horsham) led all scorers with
20 points and added 10 rebounds en route to a double-double as the
Philadelphia University Lady Rams (10-5, 5-1 CACC) stole a 60-57
road game from the Nyack College Warriors (7-7, 1-5 CACC) on
Tuesday night.
The Lady Rams out-rebounded the Warriors 42-30 and made their
foul shots when it counted (68% on the night), despite shooting
just 34% from field goal range.
In the first stanza Nyack led by as many as seven and held a
32-27 advantage at the half.
PhilaU went on a 12-4 run to start the second period as
sophomore Stephanie Agger (N. Cape May, NJ/ Lower
Cape May) hit a free-throw to give the Lady Rams back the
lead 39-36 at 13:07.
Two made free-throws by senior guard Amanda
Brennan (Stratford, NJ/ Sterling) would tie the game 47-47
at 9:28, the fourth tie of the night. A. Brennan finished the
contest with 11 points and four boards.
NC's Kelsy McIntosh hit a trey at 4:38 that would briefly give
the Warriors a 55-54 advantage, but two jumpers in the final
minutes from Romano gave the Lady Rams a late edge.
Junior forward Kate Brennan (Stratford, NJ/
Sterling) sunk two free-throws with six seconds remaining and
PhilaU survived 60-57.
The Lady Rams return to action at the Gallagher Athletic
Center on Thursday, January 22nd vs. Goldey-Beacom
College at 6:00 p.m.
