The Philadelphia University women's lacrosse team dropped its
second contest of the season, a 12-11 heartbreaker to
visiting Molloy College on April 5th at home. The setback
drops the Lady Rams to 4-2 overall on the season including an 0-1
mark in the East Coast Conference (ECC).
The Lady Rams took an 8-7 lead after 30 minutes of play as
seniors Maggie Bornhorst (pictured) and Marissa Wisniewski
registered three goals apiece. In the second half, the Lions
quickly tied the contest at 8-8, but first-year Head Coach Jen
Devinney's team scored three of the game's next four goals as the
Lady Rams took an 11-9 lead with just over ten minutes
remaining. Molloy's defense would stiffen, however, holding
Philadelphia University scoreless the rest of the way, eventually
scoring the game-winning goal with 4:27 remaining.
Sophomore Kelly Staerk finished the contest with eight saves for
the Lady Rams, who will be back in action on Thursday, April 10th,
at Georgian Court University.
