The Philadelphia University men's tennis team earned its sixth
shutout victory of the season on Saturday afternoon, defeating Post
University 9-0 at the Main
Campus Courts. The victory improves the Rams to 13-8 overall
on the season giving the Rams their most wins in a season since
1999 when Head Coach Marty Gilbert's team finished with a 13-9
mark.
On Saturday, Gilbert's squad took a commanding 3-0 lead after
doubles play, picking up a pair of 8-0 victories at #1 and #2 to go
along with a forfeit at #3. In singles, the Rams sealed the
contest by winning all five singles decisions in addition to a
forfeit at #6. Freshman Kyle Kaltenbacher (pictured) and
senior Anders Novesky each took 6-0, 6-0 decisions at #1 and #2,
respectively, while freshman Seppi Hutter and sophomore Mario
Bermeo also posted straight-set shutouts at #4 and #5,
respectively.
The Rams, winners of six of their last seven contests, willl be
back in action on Sunday, April 20th, traveling to Caldwell College
for a matchup with the Cougars.
