Rams Pick Up Third Straight Shutout, Fifth Straight Win in Romp Over Cougars

The Philadelphia University men's tennis team improved to 12-7 overall with a 9-0 defeat of visiting Caldwell College on the Main Campus Courts.  The victory is the fifth straight for the Rams and their third consecutive shutout win.

Alex Richter (pictured) earned the win at number-one singles with a exciting 1-6, 6-4, 7-6 (11) comeback, three-set victory.  Richter also teamed with Tom McAvoy to take the third doubles match with an 8-0 proset triumph.

Coach Marty Gilbert's Rams are right back at it Wednesday on the Main Campus Courts, as they host a key NCAA Division II East Region encounter with the visiting Panthers of Adelphi University.  Philadelphia University seeks revenge from a 7-2 loss at Adelphi which closed out the abbreviated fall portion of the 2007-'08 regular season back on October 13, 2007 in West Hempstead, N.Y.
