The Philadelphia University men's tennis team, currently ranked
#8 in the NCAA Division II East Region, blanked Chestnut Hill
College 9-0 today on the road. The victory is
the third straight for Head Coach Marty Gilbert's
Rams, as well as their third win over the Griffins in the 2007-'08
campaign.
Senior Alex Richter (Quetzaltenango,
Guatemala/Inter-American School; pictured) led the way for the
Rams, who now stand at 10-7 overall in duel matches this season.
Richter won his number three singles match 6-1, 6-2 before
teaming with freshman Tom McAvoy (Phoenixville,
Pa./Phoenixville) for an 8-2 proset win in second doubles. A

The Rams return home to the Main Campus Courts tomorrow to host
Bloomfield College. Matches versus the Deacons begin at 1:00
p.m. Philadelphia downed Bloomfield 9-0 on the road back on March 13, 2008 and
looks to sweep the season series on Saturday at home.
