Senior Duo Helps Lady Rams to Comeback Win at Georgian Court

Seniors Shannon Shippey and Maggie Bornhorst scored six points and five points, respectively, helping the Philadelphia University women's lacrosse team to a 14-12 victory at Georgian Court University on April 10th.  The Lady Rams, who improve to 5-2 with the victory, overcame a two-goal deficit with just over ten minutes remaining, scoring five of the final six goals for the win.

In the first half, first-year Head Coach Jenn Devinney's team fell behind 5-4 before Bornhorst tallied two straight goals to close the first frame for a 6-5 Philadelphia University advantage.  In the second half, the Lions tallied the first four goals for a 9-6 lead before the Lady Rams rallied for three straight goals of their own including Shippey's 15th goal of the year.  After Georgian Court took its a two-goal lead at 11-9, Shippey tallied two of the Lady Rams' four goals -- including the eventual game-winner with 3:52 remaining -- en route to the victory.

Sophomore netminder Kelly Staerk (pictured) registered seven saves for her fourth win of the year for the Lady Rams, who will return to action on Saturday, April 12th, with a road contest at St. Thomas Aquinas College.
