Senior midfielder Maggie Bornhorst (pictured) scored four goals,
including the 100th of her stellar career, on Sunday as the
Philadelphia University women's lacrosse team registered a 13-9
win over Bloomsburg University at Ravenhill Field. With her
milestone goal, Bornhorst becomes just the 11th player in school
history to reach the plateau as the Lady Rams improve to 3-1
overall on the season.
Needing three goals for her 100th, Bornhorst got things started
early, scoring the first two goals of the contest. The
Huskies cut the lead to 2-1 on a goal by Angie Picciotti at the
6:05 mark, but Head Coach Jen Devinney's team scored six of the
next seven goals to take an 8-2 lead into the half.
In the second half, the Lady Rams extended their lead to 12-3
before a Bloomsburg rally closed the final gap to 13-9. In
goal, sophomore Kelly Staerk had another solid outing, registering
eight saves for her third win of the season.
Bornhorst now has 101 career goals and moved past former Lady
Rams' standout Stacy Haldeman into tenth place all-time. She
also has 119 career points and needs just six points to move into
tenth-place all-time in school history in career scoring.
Up next for the Lady Rams will be Kutztown University on the
road on Wednesday, April 2nd.
