The Philadelphia University men's tennis team earned an 8-1 victory today over visiting Chestnut Hill College.  The win ups the Rams to the .500 mark at 6-6 on the season.  The loss evens the Griffins' record at 3-3.  Full results of today's six singles and three doubles matches appear below.

Senior Alex Richter (Quetzaltenango, Guatemala/Inter-American School) won at both #2 singles and #1 doubles for the Rams.  Alex defeated his cousin, freshman southpaw Carson Richter (Lafayette Hill,Pa./Plymouth-Whitemarsh), in the doubles competition before Carson earned the win at #1 singles for Chestnut Hill, topping Rams' senior Anders Novesky (Cornwall, N.Y./Cornwall).  Novesky is shown below serving in today's event.

The Richter cousins are shown in the photograph above from today's action, taken during their separate singles matches.  Carson is returning in the near court while Alex serves in the far court.

In addition to Alex Richter winning both of his matches today, freshmen Tom McAvoy (Phoenixville, Pa./Phoenixville) and Seppi Hutter (Bellevue, Wash./Bellevue) also triumphed for the Rams in their singles and doubles encounters.

Next for Head Coach Marty Gilbert's squad is a busy weekend on the courts against foes from the Pennsylvania State Athletic Conference (PSAC).  On Saturday, March 29 on the Main Campus Courts, the Rams host the Warriors from East Stroudsburg University at 12:00 noon.  Then on Sunday, March 30, the team travels to Bloomsburg University for a 2:00 p.m. dual meeting with the Huskies.  Please note that coach Gilbert's women's team begins the abbreviated spring portion of their 2007-'08 schedule as well this weekend, with the Lady Rams also taking on East Stroudsburg at home and Bloomsburg on the road.
