Bronxville, NY- The Philadelphia University
women's basketball team (2-2, 0-0 CACC) got their first win of
December with a 80-51 wallop of Concordia College (2-4, 0-0 ECC) on
Monday evening. Sophomore forward Ashley
Gaskins (Harrisburg, PA/ Central Dauphin) led all scorers
as she shattered her career-high with a 22 points, 11 rebound
double-double.
The Lady Rams held the Clippers to just 27.3% shooting from the
floor, as PhilaU led 47-23 at the half.
Junior center Jess Romano (Horsham, PA/
Hatboro-Horsham) added 16 points, 12 rebounds and junior guard
Nina Brascetta (Philadelphia, PA/ Archbishop Ryan)
chipped in 12 points and three steals for PhilaU.
The Lady Rams shot 48% from field goal range for the game.
Both PhilaU freshmen had career-high performances as forward
Christine Wooding (Northfield, NJ/ Mainland
Regional) came off the bench to score a career-high 12 points and
nine rebounds and guard Deanna Kelly (Lafayette
Hill, PA/ Archbishop Carroll) tallied six points-both
three-pointers, and two boards.
The Clippers got a team-high 12 points from Dana Rommel, the
only CC player to score in double digits.
The maroon and gray return to action on Thursday, December
4th when they travel to Bloomfield College for a 7 p.m.
non-conference match-up.
