Philadelphia, PA- The Philadelphia University
women's soccer team (6-6-3, 5-0-2 CACC) got a huge 1-0 win over
CACC foe the Holy Family University Tigers (5-8-2, 4-1-2 CACC) on
Wednesday afternoon to keep their undefeated conference record
alive. The win was the fourth straight for the Lady Rams, who
currently are ranked third in the CACC, just ahead of the Tigers.
One goal was all it took for Phila U., as sophomore Sara
Redka (Williamsport, PA/ Williamsport) scored the
game-winner just 15 minutes into regulation to give the Lady Rams a
1-0 boost. Redka scored off a touch by sophomore
Natalie Vespe (Acto, NJ/ St. Joseph), who got the
ball off a long throw-in from senior Kelly Davis
(Northfield, NJ/ Mainland). The score was Redka's
second-straight game-winning goal, as she netted the winner vs.
Dominican on Saturday, October
11th.
The Lady Rams held off a Tiger offensive late in the second
period, as senior goalie Sara Hall (Wilmington,
DE/ Wilmington Charter) made a diving save with 13 seconds left
that could have cost Phila U. the lead. The Lady Rams outshot
the Tigers 16-10.
Hall had six saves in goal for Phila U., while HFU keeper
Michelle Giambrone had six for the Tigers.
The Lady Rams will travel to Caldwell College on Saturday,
October 18th for their next match at 12:00 p.m.
