Head Coach George Dunbar's second-seeded Lady
Rams' soccer team forged their way into the Central Atlantic
Collegiate Conference (CACC) tournament championship game with a
3-0 win over the third-seeded Lions of
Georgian Court University. The match was held at Tryon Field
in Rutherford, N.J., where the CACC tournament is being hosted by
Felician College.
The game was scoreless through the first half, but in the second
stanza, Philadelphia University benefited from an own goal by
Georgian Court in the 56th minute of play which opened the
scoring. This game-winning score was the result of a scramble
in front of the Lions' net involving junior forward
Stephanie Filmyer and sophomore forward
Jenna Williams. From that point, the contest
turned into the Sara Redka Show, as the true
freshman midfielder (shown right) provided the final margin of
victory by netting her second and third goals of the season-and her
career-both unassisted and coming in the 67th and 74th minutes of
play.
Junior goalkeeper Sara Hall notched two saves from
seven Georgian Court shots to earn her seventh shutout win of the
season. The Lady Rams advance in the conference tournament to
the title game, where they are set to play the top-seeded Tigers of
Holy Family University in a rematch from last season's final, won
by the Lady Rams 2-1 after a penalty-kick shootout. The
championship game takes place this Saturday, November 3 at 4:00
p.m., and the location again will be Tryon Field in
Rutherford, N.J.
