Women's Soccer Stunned With Queen's Late Goal
FLUSHING, N.Y. - The Thomas Jefferson University women's soccer team (0-2-1) kept up with Knights through the second half, but a late goal stunned the Rams as they would fall 2-1 against Queens College (1-1-1) in Wednesday afternoon non-conference action.
HOW IT HAPPENED
Both teams would have a strong defensive gameplan as only seven shots were taken between both teams in the first half. Queen's had their opportunity at the goal stopped as Liv Riddel saved a shot from the bottom left within the first two minutes of the game. Jefferson would have the next three shots in the half, but none would convert in the back of the net. Lluvy Lewis would get the Knight's ahead as she would make her shot 17 yard out from the top left corner to give Queen's a 1-0 lead that they would carry into the break.
Jefferson would try to get on the board early as Mia Ferrara would have three shots in the second half, but Queen's goalie Erin Kelly would keep the lead for the Knights. The Rams would eventually tie the game at the 75th minute mark when Alexa Callahan would get a pass from Devin Sullivan in the middle and drive to the goalie, shooting right into the next and making the game even at 1-1.
Jefferson would stop an attack from Queen's as the Knights had four shots in a five minute span. Eventually, Julia Ragone would take a thrown in, run right down to the goal, and make a shot to the right of the next and push Queen's to a 2-1 win over the Rams.
