PHILADELPHIA – The Thomas Jefferson University women's soccer team (3-3, 2-0 CACC) scored three goals in the second half to pull away from visiting Bloomfield (1-4-1, 0-3 CACC) in a 4-1 win at Ravenhill Field on Saturday afternoon.
HOW IT HAPPENED
The Rams dominated play throughout the day and they needed just 14 minutes to get on the board.
Mia Ferrara dribbled the ball down the right flank before centering to
Laural Erick in the middle. Erick tapped it back to a charging
Gianna Garozzo, who put just enough on it to beat the goalkeeper inside the right post. It was Garozzo's first collegiate goal.
In the second period, Jefferson's pressure drew a pair of fouls inside the penalty area just two minutes apart. Erick and
Kiery Spatz converted their respective penalty kicks and the Rams held a 3-0 advantage in the 63
rd minute. Jefferson increased the margin to four in the 69
th minute.
Avery Nogami won a loose ball in the middle of the field and connected with
Devin Sullivan, who was cutting through the right side of the box. Sullivan booted the ball into the opposite corner for her first of the season. The Bears spoiled the shutout bid with 4:22 to play.
