Women's Soccer Topped by Caldwell

PHILADELPHIA - The Thomas Jefferson University women's soccer team (8-4-1, 7-2-0 CACC) had a 2-0 loss to visiting Caldwell on Saturday afternoon, ending the Rams' four-game win streak.
 
GAMEPLAY
Jefferson had the better of play to start the game, recording three shots in the opening 10 minutes. The Cougars came back with a pair of shots off frame and a corner kick. The Rams had two more shots stopped by the goalkeeper in the middle of period, giving Caldwell momentum. The Cougars capitalized and scored a late goal with 4:38 left before halftime. They were awarded a throw-in on the left side then turned and converted an arcing shot over the goalkeeper.
 
In the second, the Rams peppered the Caldwell defense with 10 shots but the Cougars' goalkeeper thwarted their efforts, making seven saves. Jefferson also had a shot ring off the post. Caldwell put the match away with 52 seconds remaining, jumping on a loose ball in the box and beating the goalie to the left side.

After Saturday's conference action, the Rams are still in second place in the CACC standings and they have two matches remaining in the regular season. Jefferson can still finish anywhere from first to fifth. The top four teams will get to host a CACC quarterfinal match.
