Chmielewski propels women's soccer to 1-0 win at Chestnut Hill

Box Score

LAFAYETTE HILL, Pa. – Carla Chmielewski's (Glassboro, N.J./Paul VI) team-leading seventh goal of 2015 allowed the Philadelphia University women's soccer team to close out the regular season on a high note as the Rams defeated Chestnut Hill 1-0 in a Central Atlantic Collegiate Conference (CACC) match Friday night at Plymouth-Whitemarsh High School.

Philadelphia—who ends the regular season unbeaten in its last four matches—evens its overall record at 8-8-1 and locked up the six seed for the CACC Tournament with a conference record of 7-4-1.

The Rams' opening round opponent will be determined by the result of tomorrow's Caldwell/Felician match. A Caldwell victory sends the Rams to Holy Family, while a Felician win or a tie has the Rams traveling to Post. The tournament begins on Tuesday, Nov. 3 at 2 p.m.

Chmielewski broke the scoreless deadlock at the 23:38 mark, one-timing a McKenna Burns (Medford, N.J./Shawnee) centering pass past Chestnut Hill keeper Kayla Reno. She has six match-winning goals this season.

The Philadelphia defense played well in front of keeper Courtney Shaw (Langhorne, Pa./Villa Joseph Marie) as it held the Griffins (4-10-2, 2-8-2 CACC) to just seven shots. Shaw finished the match with two saves to post her fifth shutout of the year.

The Rams have not allowed a goal in 405 minutes, 04 seconds, a season-best streak.

Philadelphia put 21 shots at the Chestnut Hill net, five each from Alex Reyes (Vineland, N.J./Vineland) and Chmielewski.

Reno made nine saves for Chestnut Hill.
